Arte no Tempo (Art in Time) is a non-profitable organization that seeks the promotion of the contemporary musical art through cultural events, support to creation and interpretation, publishing, and performances organization, every so often combining different art forms.
Arte no Tempo was born from the joint will to live our time and the need to have an institution that could provide the necessary formal structure to several projects that were being developed with conviction and thoroughness. It started with the festivals Jornadas Nova Música (1997 – 2001) and Aveiro_Síntese (international festival of electroacoustic music: 2002).

Arte no Tempo’s present activity includes the preparation of a publication series dedicated to our time’s music and artists, an international event to promote the European New Music, a Chamber Music concert cycle, the fringe musical programme of Anime Weekend (AveiroExpo) and the creation/maintenance of a website section dedicated to “discussions” with some interesting personalities related to our time’s musical circle:

Arte no Tempo Conversations#1
Christophe Desjardins or the inventive interpreter

Interview conducted by Diana Ferreira in November 2005
Chirstophe Desjardins by Philippe Gontier

Christophe Desjardins (Caen, 1962) is a French violist with an impressive curriculum. He's soloist in one of the most prestigious ensembles dedicated to Contemporary Music - the Ensemble Intercontemporain (EIC) -, makes numerous premières, and there are several pieces dedicated to him by the composers he meets on his relentless mission as a New Music interpreter and promoter. Arte no Tempo (AnT) had the opportunity to talk with him on his last visit to Portugal (in November 2005).

On occasion of his return to Lisbon, for the 19th of January recital at Gulbenkian Foundation, AnT publishes this interview, initiating a cycle of discussions that we intend to publish on this site on a quarterly bases.
